About lapis lazuli: Lapis lazuli has been treasured for thousands of years for its deep celestial blue, worn by royalty in ancient Egypt and later ground into ultramarine pigment by Renaissance painters. It's a traditional December birthstone, associated with the Sagittarius zodiac sign, and the traditional gem for the 9th wedding anniversary.
